FRIENDSHIPS

Friendships and "what not to do"

blog leadership consulting entreprenuer

Here is a valuable lesson for leaders.

Skimming through one of my books I found a section on "friendships and what not to do. Amazingly enough these lessons are taken from the life of King Saul, Israel"s first king 1050-1012 BCE.

“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold,to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.” Samuel

  • 1. MAKE SURE YOUR FRIENDSHIP IS BASED ON WHAT THE OTHER PERSON CAN DO FOR YOU.
  • 2. BE POSSESSIVE. DO ALL YOU CAN TO KEEP THAT PERSON AS YOUR PRIVATE PROPERTY.
  • 3. CULTIVATE JEALOUSY KEEP A FIRM GRASP ON WHAT IS YOURS AND PROTECT IT AGAINST ALL INTRUDERS.
  • 4. LET IT ALL " HANG OUT" . DONT DISCUSS YOUR ANGER AND IRRITATION; EXPLODE!!
  • 5. AVOID THE PERSON WHO THREATENS AND ANNOYS YOU. DO ALL YOU CAN TO STAY OUT OF HIS WAY.
  • 6. CULTIVATE ENVY. FOCUS SO MUCH ON WHAT THE OTHER PERSON HAS THAT YOU WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET IT.
  • 7. HARBOR HATRED IN YOUR HEART. BELIEVE THAT YOUR FEELING OF CONTEMPT FOR HIS ABILITIES OR EVEN HIS PERSON IS JUSTIFIED.
